Atar Capital invests in companies with potential – not just for financial return but to make a difference. We are building a portfolio of sustainable and purpose-driven businesses that can make a valuable and positive impact on the world. The firm specializes in corporate divestitures, complex carve-outs, and turnaround situations across a wide range of industries and geographic markets.

Size / Geography

Atar is a control/buy-out private investment firm operationally focused within the lower middle market across a broad geographical spectrum including:

  • Revenues ranging from $50 million to $1.5 billion for platform investment and sub-$50 million for add-on investments
  • EBITDA ranging from negative to $25 million
  • Headquartered in North America and Western Europe

Strong & Scalable Business Models

Atar is always looking to grow companies or provide capital to take an enterprise to the next level. The business models we seek have:

  • An existing and reliable customer base with recurring revenue streams.
  • Defensible market position with barriers to entry.
  • A solid and scalable platform primed for add-on acquisitions.
  • Placement in markets with high growth potential.
  • Experienced, motivated management teams dedicated to the growth and long-term health of the company.

Corporate Carve-Out / Divestitures

We have considerable experience and expertise in carve-outs and corporate divestitures. Our proprietary playbook and operational strategies allow us to swiftly execute carve-outs and divestitures from large Corporate Parents. We have a proven track record of quickly and seamlessly carving-out integrated divisions and turnkey subsidiaries, with entrenched shared services from global organizations – in each case resulting in fully autonomous portfolio companies.

In many cases, the Target company maintains common customers and/or vendors with their former Parent, or has complicated entanglements with their IT/ERP systems and back-office functions. Expeditiously and creatively developing solutions to solve these challenges requires an experienced buyer with credibility. And through the carve-out/divestiture journey, Atar Capital instills confidence to the Target’s key constituents and employees.

This is how Atar Capital executes these transactions to drive growth.

  • Speed & certainty in transaction execution from IOI/LOI to the consummation of the transaction.
  • Simplify complex carve-out requirements for corporate sellers.
  • Co-develop Transition Service Agreements (TSAs) in areas such IT (e.g. ERP, infrastructure, etc.), finance & accounting, marketing, engineering, treasury, payroll, and sales.
  • Develop a robust 100-day transition plan.
  • Show transparency to the sellers throughout the entire process. Accommodate special situations.
  • Manage underperforming companies or divisions with operational efficiency improvement and growth potential.
  • Deep relationships with Corporate Parents and past Sellers provides Atar with a long list of strong, credible references (available upon request).
